The Green Bay rivalry is one of the NFL’s oldest, and Ford Field is roughly 5 hours from Green Bay — close enough for drive-in travel, far enough that it’s a weekend event. Premium 100-level seats trade at 2-3x face on Packers home dates; the 2026 date lands Oct. 25 in a 4:25 national window.
vs. Bears and Vikings — division home games. Chicago and Minnesota both travel in significant numbers, and the Lions’ playoff contention since 2023 has intensified these rivalries — in 2026 the Bears date is the Thanksgiving game itself. Divisional premium is 35-55% above non-divisional dates.
Any prime-time home window (SNF/MNF). Post-2023 NFC Championship run, the Lions have earned more prime-time home slots than in any previous five-year window in franchise history. Ford Field opened August 24, 2002, as the Lions’ first dedicated downtown Detroit home since Tiger Stadium (which hosted Lions games pre-Silverdome through the 1974 season). The stadium is built partially into the shell of the historic Hudson’s warehouse, and the retained brick facade is visible from the concourse and select bowl sections. Capacity is 65,000 for football, configurable up to 70,000+ for concerts and special events. Ford Field is one of only nine fully-domed/retractable NFL stadiums, and the dome eliminates weather risk for every home game regardless of Detroit’s December and January weather. This is a real pricing factor: a December home game at Ford Field has guaranteed 70-degree ambient temperature, full concession access, and no weather-based no-show risk — which means buyers pay more for late-season Ford Field dates than comparable outdoor-stadium late-season dates. The dome also makes Ford Field a popular neutral-site Final Four (NCAA basketball) venue and drives concert demand that an outdoor Detroit stadium couldn’t match.
The 10 Yard Line Club, Comerica Club, and downtown Detroit corporate demand
Ford Field’s premium tier concentrates in the 10 Yard Line Club (field-level, premium end-zone), the Comerica Club (mid-bowl, all-inclusive), the FTD Suite Level (approximately 130 suites), and the Fifth Third Club. Corporate entertainment from downtown Detroit’s automotive HQs, Compuware/Quicken/Rocket downtown tech campus, and the legal-services sector absorbs a significant share of this inventory. Single-game premium-date resale is where the corporate-owned seats come to market — and where scarcity premium is routinely undervalued by holders selling them on standard marketplaces.
Getting there on game day
Ford Field is in downtown Detroit, two blocks from Comerica Park and the Fox Theatre. The Detroit People Mover loops downtown and has a Times Square station within 3 blocks of Ford Field. Q Line streetcar connects downtown to Midtown. Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) is 25 minutes by car. On-site parking and adjacent lots range $20-50, materially cheaper than comparable downtown NFL venues. History that still drives Lions ticket demand
The Lions franchise was founded in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans and moved to Detroit in 1934. Four NFL championships, all pre-Super-Bowl era (1935, 1952, 1953, 1957), and zero Super Bowl appearances — the longest championship drought in the league prior to the recent competitive reset. The Barry Sanders era (1989-1998) is the cultural high-water mark of the modern franchise and the reference point for Lions fan-base identity. Ford Field has five main pricing tiers. The 10 Yard Line Club and Comerica Club (premium clubs with all-inclusive amenities) are a separate market, often $1,500-3,500 per seat for Thanksgiving and prime-time games. The 100-level sidelines (sections 116-121, 143-148) are the premium bowl. The 200-level corners and 300-level mezzanine are mid-tier. The 300-level upper bowl is the volume inventory. My Lions game got flex-scheduled — what happens to my consigned ticket?
NFL flex scheduling can move a 1 PM Sunday game to Sunday Night Football or the 4:25 PM national window. Tickets remain valid for the new time.
