Phoenix Suns · Mortgage Matchup Center

Three names, one building — and your buyers search the old ones. The rename gap is a real listing variable in Phoenix. We write listings buyers can find.

The Suns play in Mortgage Matchup Center — the venue’s sixth name since 1992 and current as of October 2025 — a building whose rebrand history is genuinely one of the NBA’s marketing oddities. Devin Booker’s tenure, the 2021 Finals run, and the 2023 Durant-Booker-Beal trade have shaped the current inventory-pricing regime. Durant’s July 2025 trade to Houston closed that chapter; Booker now anchors the roster with a younger supporting cast. First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders.

The Suns ticket market in 2026

Suns demand at Mortgage Matchup Center is a three-part pricing problem: Booker-driven baseline demand, a post-Durant-trade recalibration, and a venue-rename confusion that listing descriptions need to address directly. The building has been Mortgage Matchup Center for less than a year; many buyers still search for ‘Footprint Center’ or ‘PHX Arena.’ That search-term fragmentation matters for marketplace discovery, and sellers who don’t use all three venue names in listings limit their reach.

The rename gap: Phoenix buyers search the building’s old names, so listings that don’t bridge all three get found less and clear lower A diagram shows three search boxes typed by buyers: Footprint Center, the name used until recently and still the most-searched; Talking Stick Resort Arena, the older habit; and Mortgage Matchup Center, the current name. Arrows from the first two miss a listing card labeled listed under the new name only, illustrating lost find-rate, while a bridged listing card naming all three names catches every arrow. A side panel lists the other two parts of the pricing problem: Booker-driven baseline demand anchoring a younger post-Durant roster, and the recalibrated premium dates, the Lakers desert rivalry with Luka migration, the Curry visit, Jokic tourism, and the 2021 Finals benchmark above everything. The corporate floor notes tribal-gaming, Banner Health, and real estate sector buyers. Verdict: in Phoenix the listing copy is a pricing input, and bridging the rename is free money. The page’s own mechanic, drawn: Phoenix pricing is a three-part problem — Booker-driven baseline demand, the post-Durant-trade recalibration (July 2025, to Houston; Booker now anchors a younger roster), and a venue-rename gap: the building has been Mortgage Matchup Center for under a year and buyers still search “Footprint Center,” so listings that don’t bridge the names get found less and clear lower. The 2021-Finals benchmark and the Jokic/Curry/LeBron-Luka visits price the top.

The premium windows we watch for Suns consignors in the 2026-27 season:

vs. Lakers — LeBron+Luka plus desert-rivalry history. Lakers-Suns is a steady annual premium date. Luka’s 2025 trade added another layer — Dallas-migrant fans plus LeBron tourism. Two home dates per season, both premium.

vs. Warriors — Curry scarcity. One date per season. Curry in the desert still commands championship-year multiples despite the Warriors’ transitional years.

vs. Nuggets — Southwest travel plus Jokic draw. Denver is 800 miles northwest but the matchup has playoff history (2021 first-round series, 2024 first-round series). Jokic tourism adds demand.

vs. Clippers — I-10 corridor rivalry, new-era Kawhi-Booker matchup. LA is a 6-hour drive. Clippers fans drive over for weekend dates at steady rates.

Playoff games. Suns postseason inventory is the hardest Arizona sports ticket to clear. The 2021 Finals home games remain the pricing benchmark; the 2022 first-round Game 7 loss to Dallas and subsequent playoff exits have stabilized premium pricing on a more modest curve than 2021 implied.

Mortgage Matchup Center’s Phoenician Suite Level and the Casino Arizona Club (lower-bowl premium) price on Phoenix corporate demand — the tribal-gaming sector (Salt River, Gila River), Banner Health, and the valley’s real-estate and construction industries. These corporate buyers absorb inventory on entertainment-spend cycles less volatile than retail demand.

Inside Mortgage Matchup Center

Mortgage Matchup Center opened June 6, 1992, as America West Arena, subsequently renamed US Airways Center (2006-2014), Talking Stick Resort Arena (2015-2019), PHX Arena (2019-2021), Footprint Center (2021-2025), and Mortgage Matchup Center in October 2025 following a naming-rights deal with Rocket Mortgage’s competitor, Mortgage Matchup. Capacity for Suns basketball is 17,071, making it one of the smallest NBA venues. The building sits in downtown Phoenix, adjacent to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field. A phased ~$230M renovation through 2021 rebuilt the premium experience; the 2025 rename is marketing-only.

The 2020-2021 ‘PHX Arena Transformation’ renovation

Robert Sarver’s ownership group initiated the $230M renovation in 2019, and the work completed through 2021 under the Ishbia family’s acquisition. The project added the Phoenician Suite Level (premium courtside suites), rebuilt the Casino Arizona Club (lower-bowl premium), refreshed concourses, installed new scoreboards, and upgraded all AV systems. The 1992-era building now reads as a modern NBA venue internally. Listers should use 2021-and-later comps for premium-tier pricing. The October 2025 Mortgage Matchup Center rebrand added no structural changes.

The Phoenician Suite Level, Casino Arizona Club, and why Phoenix corporate demand is volatile

The Phoenician Suite Level (premium courtside suites) and Casino Arizona Club (lower-bowl premium with all-inclusive dining) are the two tiers where Arizona corporate entertainment demand concentrates. Tribal gaming partners (Salt River, Gila River), Banner Health, real estate, and construction all hold multi-year packages. But Phoenix corporate entertainment demand is more volatile than in other NBA markets because real-estate and construction cycles affect Phoenix entertainment budgets materially. This matters for pricing: premium-tier inventory in Phoenix tracks broader regional economic signals more than in most markets.

Getting there on game day

Mortgage Matchup Center is in downtown Phoenix at Jefferson and 1st Street, a two-minute walk from the Valley Metro Light Rail (3rd Street/Jefferson station). The light rail connects to ASU in Tempe, the Phoenix airport (Sky Harbor, 20 minutes), and Mesa. Parking is abundant and moderately priced ($15-35 in adjacent downtown garages). Phoenix heat is a genuine variable for game-day timing — afternoon tipoffs in late April are brutal even in an air-conditioned building. Out-of-town buyers appreciate mentions of the indoor walk from the light-rail platform.

History that still drives Suns ticket demand

Zero NBA championships — the longest championship drought of any long-established NBA team still in its original city. Three NBA Finals appearances (1976, 1993, 2021). The Steve Nash-era ‘seven seconds or less’ Suns (2004-2010) produced six playoff berths and two Conference Finals appearances but no title. The Devin Booker era (2015-present) culminated in the 2021 Finals run (lost to Milwaukee in 6). The 2023 Durant-Booker-Beal trade attempt at a championship window closed with Durant’s July 2025 trade to Houston, which reset the roster structure entirely.

Mortgage Matchup Center has hosted every Suns home game since June 1992. The building saw Charles Barkley’s 1993 Finals run, the Nash Conference Finals runs, Booker’s 70-point game against Boston in March 2017 (Suns franchise record), and the 2021 Finals run closing games. The November 2022 Robert Sarver ownership sale to Mat Ishbia (United Wholesale Mortgage CEO, for $4B) restructured the franchise. The October 2025 Mortgage Matchup Center naming is a UWM-adjacent marketing exercise; Ishbia’s mortgage-industry connections explain the current brand.

Beyond basketball: Mortgage Matchup Center concert history

The building has hosted Taylor Swift (multiple residency dates), Bad Bunny, Garth Brooks, Elton John, Paul McCartney, and the annual Latin-music tour circuit. Phoenix is a top-15 US concert market, and the downtown venue competes with the larger State Farm Stadium in Glendale for major stadium-scale tours. Concert-side pricing benefits from Phoenix’s Latin-music market depth — Bad Bunny, Peso Pluma, and Latin Grammy-adjacent tours trade at resale multiples above US averages.

Why consign your Suns tickets with us

We know which Suns games move and when. Lakers on a Saturday is not the same listing problem as a Wednesday vs. Washington. Premium dates at Mortgage Matchup Center — Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, Clippers, playoff (if applicable) — are where Suns inventory holders leave the most money on the table. Our pricing discipline (calibrated for the post-Durant roster recalibration and the venue-name confusion) returns multiples on what we charge.

You don’t manage buyers, transfers, or delivery issues. We handle the full transaction: multi-marketplace listing, delivery, customer support, dispute handling, and replacement tickets if the primary marketplace cancels a transfer the night of the game. You don’t get a text from a stranger at 6:45 PM on tip-off night.

You get paid Friday after the event. One Friday payout for every game from the prior Sunday through Saturday. No marketplace payout delays, no held funds, no surprise chargebacks.

First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders. If this is your first game with us and you’re a Suns season ticket holder, we take zero commission on your first regular-season listing. The goal is to show you the difference in net payout — then you decide.

Holding Suns season seats or Lakers/Warriors/Nuggets dates in Phoenix you won’t use?

The building has had three names in five years and buyers still search the old two — listings that don’t bridge the rename get found less and clear lower. Booker’s baseline, the post-Durant reset, and the tribal-gaming corporate tier do the rest. Send your dates and sections.

FAQs about selling Suns tickets

How does my section affect what my Suns tickets sell for?

Mortgage Matchup Center has four main tiers. Courtside and the Phoenician Suite Level are a separate market — four figures per seat for Lakers-and-above premium dates. The Casino Arizona Club and mid-bowl premium trade on Phoenix corporate demand, which is more volatile than in other markets. Lower bowl 100-level is the volume retail tier. Upper bowl 200-level is the discount inventory, where mid-tier weeknight clearance has softened post-Durant. Each tier moves on different signals.

My Suns game got rescheduled — what happens to my consigned ticket?

NBA games rarely reschedule. Mortgage Matchup Center’s other primary tenant is the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) and concert bookings. The league’s standard policy is tickets remain valid for any new date. We handle all buyer communication. If the game is canceled outright (extremely rare), we refund the buyer and you’re not charged commission.

Should I wait until closer to game day to list my Suns tickets?

For Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, Clippers, and any national TV date, list 60-90 days out — that captures LA, Denver, and Tucson travel buyers. For standard weeknight games, 7-14 days out works. Given the venue-rename confusion in search, we use all current and recent names (‘Mortgage Matchup Center,’ ‘Footprint Center,’ ‘PHX Arena’) in listing descriptions for maximum marketplace discovery.
