D.C. United · Audi Field · Washington
The value isn’t in the standings. It’s in the scarcity, the visitor, and the four stars on the crest.
D.C. United is in a hard stretch — a sixth straight year out of the playoffs — but that’s not where a ticket’s worth comes from right now. A 20,000-seat building, the marquee visiting attraction, and a four-MLS-Cup legacy do the pricing. Knowing which of those is in play on a given date is the whole job. We handle pricing, multi-marketplace listing, delivery, and buyer issues — you get paid Friday. First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders.
The D.C. United ticket market in 2026
D.C. United’s on-field form has been poor — the club finished bottom of the table in 2025 and has missed the playoffs six years running — but the ticket market doesn’t price off the standings here. Three other things do: Audi Field’s 20,000 capacity, which keeps marquee dates genuinely scarce; the visiting attraction, whether that’s a Messi visit or an Atlantic Cup rival; and a four-MLS-Cup legacy that still anchors the brand. The job for a season ticket holder is to know which of those drivers is on the schedule for a given date, and price to it — not to the win-loss column.
The premium windows we watch for D.C. United consignors in the 2026 regular season:
vs. Inter Miami — Messi at Audi Field. In a 20,000-seat building this is among the scarcest Messi inventories in MLS. It sells out decisively, and the secondary market is where the real number lives.
Atlantic Cup vs. NYCFC and the Red Bulls. The Eastern Conference rivalry that brings travel down I-95 from New York. The rivalry stakes hold these dates up regardless of the table.
vs. Philadelphia Union. The I-95 Mid-Atlantic rivalry, with the shortest road trip on the schedule and a steady visiting contingent.
Playoff matches. When the club returns to the bracket, the four-Cup legacy and the small building combine to price a home playoff date well above the regular-season baseline.
Nationally televised Saturday windows. The national-window matches carry a 25-40% premium over a comparable midweek date.
Audi Field’s Heineken Rooftop, Lexus Pitchside Club, and loge boxes sell to D.C.’s corporate-entertainment and lobbying-corridor base. The Screaming Eagles and La Barra supporters bring the matchday energy, and those seats rarely reach the secondary market. The lower-bowl sidelines are where the dates differentiate most.
Inside Audi Field
Audi Field opened in July 2018 as D.C. United’s first purpose-built home after decades at RFK Stadium. Capacity is 20,000, on the Buzzard Point waterfront along the Anacostia River, next door to Nationals Park, with the Metro Green Line’s Navy Yard-Ballpark station a 10-minute walk away. It’s among the smaller permanent MLS venues — which is exactly why scarcity does so much pricing work on the marquee dates.
The 20,000 ceiling and Messi-date scarcity
Audi Field sits in the same size class as Subaru Park and Chase Stadium, so the premium dates — a Messi visit especially — sell out decisively and price above MLS averages on the secondary market. A consignor pricing against a generic MLS baseline leaves real money on the marquee fixtures.
Screaming Eagles, La Barra, and the premium tiers
The Screaming Eagles (founded 1995, predating MLS) and La Barra are the organized supporters, and those seats rarely hit resale. The Heineken Rooftop, Lexus Pitchside Club, and loge boxes are the corporate-entertainment premium tiers; the lower-bowl sidelines are mid-tier and the upper bowl is volume.
Getting there on matchday
The stadium is a 10-minute walk from the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro and shares the waterfront neighborhood with Nationals Park, with food and bars nearby and parking at $20-40. Out-of-town buyers come from Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Baltimore — the regional flows that feed the rivalry and Messi dates.
History that still drives D.C. United ticket demand
D.C. United joined MLS as a 1996 founding member and dominated the league’s early years, winning MLS Cups in 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2004 — one of the all-time title hauls in league history. Marco Etcheverry, Jaime Moreno, Ben Olsen, and Bruce Arena defined that dynasty, and Wayne Rooney’s 2018-2019 designated-player stint was the highlight of the post-Cup era. The 2018 move from RFK Stadium to Audi Field opened the modern chapter.
The present is harder to spin: D.C. finished bottom of the MLS table in 2025 (15th in the East, 30th overall) and missed the playoffs for the sixth straight season, a slide that cost coach Troy Lesesne his job mid-year — René Weiler took over in August — and the general manager his at season’s end. Christian Benteke, the 2024 MLS Golden Boot winner, and Mateusz Klich have carried the attack through the lean stretch. None of that erases the demand, because the four-Cup legacy and the scarcity of a 20,000-seat building keep the marquee dates valuable. Secondary-market pricing here is a brand-and-opponent story, not a standings story.
Beyond soccer: Audi Field event history
Audi Field hosts U.S. national-team matches, international friendlies, and select concerts. The 20,000 capacity keeps concerts selective — bigger D.C. tours go to Capital One Arena or Nationals Park — so the soccer calendar dominates the building’s year, and the match schedule is what a consignor tracks date by date.
Why consign your D.C. United tickets with us
We know which D.C. United dates move and why. Messi at Audi Field is not the same listing problem as a Wednesday vs. Chicago. Miami, the Atlantic Cup, and playoff dates are where D.C. United holders leave the most money on the table.
You don’t manage buyers, transfers, or delivery issues. We handle the full transaction: multi-marketplace listing, delivery, customer support, dispute handling, and replacement tickets if a primary marketplace cancels a transfer the night of the match.
You get paid Friday after the event. One Friday payout for every match from the prior Sunday through Saturday. No marketplace payout delays, no held funds, no surprise chargebacks.
First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders. If this is your first match with us and you’re a D.C. United season ticket holder, we take zero commission on your first regular-season listing. The goal is to show you the difference in net payout — then you decide.

Full-service consignment vs. listing D.C. United tickets yourself
Selling D.C. United tickets is a scarcity-and-opponent pricing problem layered over a four-Cup legacy brand. Here’s an honest comparison:
| List yourself | Consign with us | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing the opponent, not the standings | You discount because the team is down | We price to the visitor and the scarcity |
| Multi-marketplace listing | One at a time, manually | Every major resale marketplace, plus wholesale broker channels and our private buyer list |
| Last-minute transfer issues | You handle buyer calls at kickoff | We handle it, including replacements |
| Payout timing | 7-30 days, varies by marketplace | Friday after the event, PayPal or wire |
| Pricing for Messi, rivalry, and playoff dates | Based on what you see on the marketplace | Based on nearly 20 years of premium-date data |
| Commission | 10-25% marketplace fees (variable by platform and event) | 20% standard (first regular-season sale free for new STHs) |
FAQs about selling D.C. United tickets
How does my section affect what my D.C. United tickets sell for?
Four main tiers. The Heineken Rooftop, Lexus Pitchside Club, and loge boxes are the corporate-entertainment premium. The lower-bowl sidelines are next, the corners and end-line are mid-tier, and the upper bowl is volume. The Screaming Eagles and La Barra supporters are a separate category that rarely reaches resale. In a 20,000-seat building, the whole grid lifts on a marquee date.
My D.C. United match got rescheduled — what happens to my consigned ticket?
MLS matches occasionally reschedule for weather or Concacaf fixtures. The standard policy is that tickets stay valid for the rescheduled date, and we handle all buyer communication and reissue the transfer. If a match is canceled outright (extremely rare), we refund the buyer and you’re not charged commission on that listing.
Should I wait until closer to match day to list my D.C. United tickets?
For Inter Miami, the Atlantic Cup, Philadelphia, and playoff dates, list early — 60-90 days out captures the Mid-Atlantic travel buyers. For standard weeknight matches, 10-21 days out is optimal. We handle the per-match timing call.
