Seattle Sounders FC · Lumen Field · Seattle
The biggest stage in MLS. The highest ceiling in the league — in attendance, in trophies, in the building itself.
No MLS club plays on a bigger stage than Seattle. The Sounders lead the league in attendance, play in an NFL stadium they open to roughly 69,000 for the marquee dates, own the most decorated recent trophy run in the league, and in 2025 hosted the world’s best clubs — PSG, Atlético Madrid, Botafogo — at Lumen for the Club World Cup. That ceiling is what makes the premium dates here unlike anywhere else. We price by hand, list across every major marketplace, and pay you Friday. First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders.
The Sounders ticket market in 2026
Sounders inventory prices differently from any other MLS team because the stage is bigger. Lumen Field runs in a compact 37,722-seat soccer configuration for midweek dates, then opens the upper bowl to roughly 69,000 for the Cascadia, Messi, and playoff matches — an elastic supply that lets demand express itself fully. And Seattle keeps reaching the biggest stages: a 2022 Concacaf Champions League title (the first for any MLS club) drew 68,741, a 2025 Leagues Cup added another trophy, and in 2025 Lumen hosted PSG, Atlético Madrid, and Botafogo for the Club World Cup. The marquee dates here have a ceiling no other MLS club’s do — pricing each to the stage it’s actually played on is the whole job.
The premium windows we watch for Sounders consignors in the 2026 regular season:
Cascadia Cup vs. the Portland Timbers. The oldest Pacific Northwest rivalry, the loudest game in MLS; the upper bowl opens to 50,000-plus and the date prices 3-4× a baseline.
vs. Inter Miami — Messi at Lumen Field. When Miami visits, Lumen opens to full capacity and the match chases MLS attendance records; the market opens within minutes of the schedule release and rarely softens.
Cascadia vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps. The other Cascadia leg, with cross-border travel along the Seattle-Vancouver corridor that holds the premium.
Playoff matches. One of the most consistent playoff clubs in MLS history; a home playoff date opens the full bowl and trades at 3-4× a regular-season Saturday.
Concacaf Champions Cup knockout dates. Seattle’s 2022 continental title drew 68,741; the continental nights consistently pull near-sellout, big-stage crowds.
Lumen Field’s Hawks Nest supporters’ section, the sideline Club tiers, and the 100-level premium sections are three distinct demand products, and the tarp-on versus tarp-off configuration shifts supply by 20,000-plus seats on premium dates. We price each tier on its own curve.
Inside Lumen Field
Lumen Field opened in 2002 for the NFL Seahawks and has hosted the Sounders since their 2009 MLS debut. The compact soccer configuration is 37,722, expandable to roughly 69,000 for marquee matches by opening the upper bowl. It sits in SoDo, just south of downtown and next to T-Mobile Park, and it’s one of the loudest outdoor venues in North American sports.
The tarp-on, tarp-off supply lever
For midweek and non-marquee matches the Sounders tarp the upper bowl — the 37,722 baseline — then open it for the Cascadia, Messi, and playoff dates, adding roughly 30,000 seats. The same marquee date with the upper bowl open versus closed is a completely different scarcity profile, so the first thing we settle is the announced configuration, then price the inventory to it.
The Emerald City Supporters and the tiers
The Emerald City Supporters in the Hawks Nest area are the largest and most consistent supporters’ section in MLS, and those seats rarely reach resale. The Touchline Club and the 100-level sidelines are the corporate-entertainment premium; the 100-level corners are mid-premium; the 200-level is volume; and the upper 300s open only on tarp-off dates but carry the bulk of marquee-date supply.
Getting there on matchday
Lumen is transit-superior: Sound Transit Link Light Rail stops at Stadium Station right outside, and Sounder Commuter Rail runs from Tacoma and Everett on matchdays. Parking runs $30-60, constrained by Mariners events next door, and the I-5 corridor draws buyers from Portland, Vancouver, and across Puget Sound for the marquee dates.
History that still drives Sounders ticket demand
Seattle Sounders FC debuted in MLS in 2009 and immediately became a model franchise: four U.S. Open Cups (2009, 2010, 2011, 2014), two MLS Cups (2016, 2019), a 2014 Supporters’ Shield, and the 2022 Concacaf Champions League — the first title in that competition for any MLS club, won over Pumas in front of 68,741 at Lumen. Clint Dempsey’s 2013 signing, Nicolás Lodeiro’s era, Raúl Ruídiaz’s scoring run, and the Jordan Morris homegrown arc are the memory-bank moments that still price into season-ticket values.
The recent run keeps the prestige current. Under Brian Schmetzer — the hometown coach now in his ninth full season — the Sounders won the 2025 Leagues Cup, hosted the world’s best clubs (PSG, Atlético Madrid, and Botafogo) at Lumen for the 2025 Club World Cup, and returned to the MLS playoffs (55 points, a Round One exit to Minnesota on penalties). Few clubs in the league combine that level of trophies, attendance, and big-match pedigree — and secondary-market pricing reflects a market that treats Sounders matches as civic events.
Beyond soccer: Lumen Field concert history
Lumen is one of North America’s premier large-venue concert stadiums — Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Paul McCartney, Metallica, U2, and the Rolling Stones have all played here recently — with a concert capacity above 71,000. Concert-side pricing turns on sightlines (the Touchline and 100-level sidelines are premium for stage-end setups), and the busy NFL-and-concert calendar is one more thing a consignor tracks.
Why consign your Sounders tickets with us
We know which Sounders dates move and at which configuration. A tarp-off Cascadia date is not the same listing problem as a tarp-on midweek visitor. The configuration, Messi visits, and playoff dates are where Sounders holders leave the most money on the table.
You don’t manage buyers, transfers, or delivery issues. We handle the full transaction: multi-marketplace listing, delivery, customer support, dispute handling, and replacement tickets if a primary marketplace cancels a transfer the night of the match.
You get paid Friday after the event. One Friday payout for every match from the prior Sunday through Saturday. No marketplace payout delays, no held funds, no surprise chargebacks.
First regular-season sale is commission-free for new season ticket holders. If this is your first match with us and you’re a Sounders season ticket holder, we take zero commission on your first regular-season listing. The goal is to show you the difference in net payout — then you decide.
Holding Sounders season seats or Cascadia / Messi / playoff dates?
The configuration and the opponent are the demand drivers — those are the dates where pricing discipline pays off most. Send your dates and sections.
Full-service consignment vs. listing Sounders tickets yourself
Selling Sounders tickets is a capacity-flexible pricing problem — the same section sells for different prices depending on whether the upper bowl is open. Here’s an honest comparison:
| List yourself | Consign with us | |
|---|---|---|
| Reading the tarp-on vs. tarp-off configuration | You guess whether the upper bowl opens | We track it and price accordingly |
| Multi-marketplace listing | One at a time, manually | Every major resale marketplace, plus wholesale broker channels and our private buyer list |
| Last-minute transfer issues | You handle buyer calls at kickoff | We handle it, including replacements |
| Payout timing | 7-30 days, varies by marketplace | Friday after the event, PayPal or wire |
| Pricing for Cascadia, Messi, and playoff dates | Based on what you see on the marketplace | Based on nearly 20 years of premium-date data |
| Commission | 10-25% marketplace fees (variable by platform and event) | 20% standard (first regular-season sale free for new STHs) |
FAQs about selling Sounders tickets
How does my section affect what my Sounders tickets sell for?
Lumen has five primary soccer tiers. The Touchline Club and 100-level sidelines are the corporate-entertainment premium; the 100-level corners and end-line (outside the supporters’ section) are mid-premium; the 200-level reserved is volume; and the upper 300s (active only on tarp-off dates) are the lowest-priced tier but the bulk of supply on marquee matches. The Hawks Nest is a special supporters’ section with its own dynamics. Each tier moves on a separate curve.
My Sounders match got rescheduled — what happens to my consigned ticket?
MLS matches occasionally reschedule for weather, Concacaf fixtures, or rare venue conflicts with the NFL Seahawks or the Mariners next door. The standard policy is that tickets stay valid for the new date, and we handle all buyer communication. If a match is canceled outright (extremely rare), we refund the buyer and you’re not charged commission on that listing.
Should I wait until closer to match day to list my Sounders tickets?
For Cascadia, Inter Miami, and playoff dates, list early — 60-90 days out captures the Pacific Northwest travel buyers from Portland and Vancouver. For standard weeknight matches, 10-21 days out is optimal. We handle the per-match timing and the configuration call.
